NOTES: In 1970, the site is a mix of agriculture and unaltered land, with structures to the south, and the remaining part of the buffer in agriculture. By 2010 more area under agriculture on the site, and development (pavement on the site near a mosque); there is more development in the NE part of the buffer. The site has been extensively and systematically looted, going back at least af far as 1991, when Robert Fisk noted that the site has been destroyed by tomb-robbers who have used bulldozers and mechanical shovels to search the Bronze Age remains for gold. When I visited the site, all that remained were piles of rubble and earth and pieces of broken pottery shovelled on to a local rubbbish dump. This is classed as development.
